The Missouri Choral Society was founded as the Saint Charles Choral Society in 1971 and is a community chorus that performs predominantly in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. The members of the choral society are seasoned choral musicians and volunteers. Since its inception, the choral society is under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Greenlaw.
Dr. Dan O'Donnell Ms. Sharon Byers
Associate Director Accompanist
Four performances are provided free to the general public each year and music styles range from contemporary Pops to Requiems. The Choral Society has performed in not only St. Louis, but also across four continents as they take occasional concert tours outside of the United States. They have performed, most notably, in the United Kingdom, Brazil, Italy and all across Europe. Their wide range of musical repertoire has delighted audiences around the world.
Thank you for your interest in the Missouri Choral Society. Membership requires a solid background of previous choral experience, regular attendance at Monday evening rehearsals, starting with a personal interview (either by telephone or in person with the director prior to the first rehearsal). A formal audition is not required of those with a strong background. Instead, qualified singers are invited to participate in a rehearsal so that they (and the director) might determine if the ensemble is a good fit for each singer. We recognize that prospective new members should be able to "try out the ensemble" to determine if the chorus is what they expected and had in mind prior to their committing to membership. Only if both the director and the prospective new member concur is membership granted. A membership fee of $60 per semester is paid by each singer. (Concert attire for men is a black tux with black tie; for women a long gown purchased for about $73.) For more information please call the director at 314-849-1912.
